Welcome to Apple Tree Cottages
Join Vivienne and John Sweeting on the family farm for locally produced
breakfasts for b&b guests, served with love and great coffee – guaranteed.
(We can say that because the couple’s eldest son runs a well established
coffee roasting business nearby)!
The Dairy Farm at Saltmarshe is just five minutes from the M62, yet
is surrounded by beautiful parkland to make your stay truly special. Saltmarshe
is also close to the shopping cities of York, Hull and Leeds so you really
can enjoy the best of both worlds when you book a trip here.
Even the drive to The Dairy Farm is worth a visit in itself –
with century-old oak trees dotted through ancient parkland, you’ll
pass the grand Georgian building of Saltmarshe Hall on your left before
reaching this gem of a place, nestled in stunning woodland.
Vivienne and her husband John have done a fantastic restoration of both
their house and its surrounding cottages, so you’re guaranteed a
wonderful stay, whether it's a shorts break, bed & breakfast or self-catering,
in smart, recently renovated accommodation. High standards are order of
the day here, as Vivienne prides herself on giving her guests an exceptional
experience – Including a freshly baked ‘apple pie welcome’,
or information on local events. Vivienne says, we’ll do all we can
to make sure your time in Yorkshire is truly memorable.”
The holiday accommodation is ideally situated for those who wish to
sit in the garden to read and have a barbecue, and for those who enjoy
local walks (of which there are many). For those who are more serious
walkers, The Yorkshire Wolds Way is within easy access. Guests can cycle
on The Trans Penine Way or ride around in the Howden area (bicycles are
available). Visitors can also go bird watching at the world famous Blacktoft
Sands nature reserve.
Apple Tree cottages which are ideal for week long holidays, weekend
breaks or weekend retreats, are deep in wooded countryside, yet are only
7 minutes from Junction 37 of the M62, leading to a central network of
roads giving access to all parts of northern England.
They are situated a few miles from a small market town with its famous
Howden Minster. Also Selby Abbey, Beverley Minster and York Minster are
all within easy travelling distance.
From these country cottages situated in the heart of Yorkshire, visitors
can enjoy tranquility as well as more active pursuits such as: fishing
(ponds on the farm), holidaying with their dog and riding holidays. They
can shop til they drop in York, Beverley, Leeds, Sheffield, the spa town
of Harrogate, Hull and all the small market towns nearby; or visit places
of interest such as The Castle Museum and The Jorvik Centre in York or
The Deep in Hull. For those who like stately homes, there are many in
the area: Castle Howard, Harewood House, Sledmere House, Burton Constable
and Burton Agnes.
There are possibilities for holidays with their dog, or with their horse,
(stabling and grazing available) and the superior accommodation of the
4 star cottages needs to be seen to be believed. The cottages provide for
short-breaks with their dog and holiday accommodation for the guest and
their horse. The 'Farm Stay' is suitable for country lovers as well as
those who like historic houses, places of interest shopping expeditions
and the sea is less than an hour away. For golfing enthusiasts there are
many courses nearby with The Oaks Golf Club and Boothferry Golf Club only
minutes away.
